Leonard J. Miller & Associates, Chartered was formed as a sole proprietorship in 1976 with its office in Towson, Maryland. The firm was incorporated in 1980 and in 1984 moved to its present location in downtown Baltimore, and has provided over 40 years of continued service!
The firm specializes in sophisticated auditing, accounting, business consulting and tax services for clients throughout the Mid-Atlantic region and throughout the United States. We pride ourselves in our creativity and our ability to provide proactive advice. Our goal is to identify our client’s needs before they do.
Leonard J. Miller & Associates, Chartered is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants Peer Review Program. The firm voluntarily undergoes a stringent review of its accounting and auditing practices by another CPA firm every three years. This peer review process assures our clients of consistent, quality service. In our most recent review we received a rating of pass. Firms can either receive a rating of pass, pass with deficiencies, or fail. We received a ‘Pass’ rating during our last Peer Review.
The firm's philosophy and culture is such that our clients do not experience a high turnover of the personnel assigned. The staff will not be transferred. The firm will not be merged or sold. In short, our clients have a team that will grow with them and be there for them.

Leonard J. Miller, CPA, MBA, CVA, PFS
Len Miller is the president and founder of Leonard J. Miller & Associates, Chartered located in Baltimore, Maryland. The firm has a singular office from which it serves clients headquartered in the Mid-Atlantic region. The firm specializes in sophisticated auditing, accounting, business consulting, estate and trust planning and tax services for clients. We pride ourselves in our creativity and our ability to provide proactive advice. Our goal is to identify our client’s needs before they do. As our company statement says – “All accounting firms can give you answers. We give you ideas.®”
Len graduated from the University of Baltimore with a BS in Accounting, magna cum laude, and received his MBA from Loyola College in Maryland. He was an auditor with the Defense Contract Audit Agency (DCAA) and has extensive experience dealing with government contracting issues. While with the DCAA, he served as a specialist in contract claims, forward pricing issues, and incurred cost audits. Len has spoken on behalf of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) before various state CPA associations on many technical topics and consults on a broad range of cost accounting issues. He also worked for KPMG and several other firms and taught Cost Accounting and Advanced Auditing for the University of Baltimore.
He has served on the Board of Directors of the Maryland Association of Certified Public Accountants (MACPA) and was one of 36 appointed members of the Joint Trial Board of the AICPA and served two 3-year appointments. Len also served as chairman of the Peer Review Committee, the Auditing Standards Committee, the By-Laws Committee, and the Ethics Committee of the MACPA. He was actively involved with the Vision Project, which had the mission of defining the future of the accounting profession. He was the first to receive the MACPA Max Teichmann Award for Outstanding Committee Chairman for his work on the Peer Review Committee.
Len assists clients with cost accounting issues, business consulting and tax planning projects as well as buy/sell agreements and mergers and acquisition planning. Len is a licensed CPA and is a member of the AICPA, MACPA and the National Association of Certified Valuation Analysts (NACVA). He is a Personal Financial Specialist (PFS) and a Certified Valuation Analyst (CVA) and a Certified Business Exit Consultant (CBEC). He has completed the Wharton School of Business program on Mergers and Acquisitions. He has guided many clients through transitioning and exiting their business. Len is licensed in life and health insurance and has passed the exam for Registered Investment Advisors. He has participated in podcasts and panels discussing business transition/exit strategies and related issues. Len also serves as an advisor to the board of directors of many businesses.
Smart CEO magazine named Len one of the Baltimore area's Top 50 Smart CPAs in 2006, one of the Baltimore area's Top 40 CPAs in 2008, and again recognized Len as a SmartCPA in 2012. Len was also recognized as a FIVE STAR wealth manager by Baltimore Magazine in 2011 and 2012.
Len was nominated and awarded the SmartCEO Centers of Influence Award for 2016. Virginia H. Miller Is a shareholder in the firm and is our Director of Accounting and Auditing. Ginny received an MBA from Loyola College of Maryland and a Bachelor of Business Administration, cum laude from Loyola.
Ginny has extensive experience working hands-on with client personnel in the role of problem-solver for various accounting and management issues. Within the Firm, she oversees the primary administrative functions and has steered the Firm consistently through unqualified peer reviews.
As Director of Accounting and Auditing, Ginny oversees the preparation of all the Firm's accounting engagements and has extensive experience in the construction, manufacturing, distribution and wholesale/retail industries.
She is a member of the American Institute of CPAs (AICPA) and the Maryland Association of CPAs (MACPA). She is the past President of a non-profit organization. She is also the past Chairman of the Professional Ethics Committee of the MACPA. Ginny has been with the Firm since 1980.
Howard is our Firm's Director of Tax Services. He has over 50 years of diversified public accounting.

Howard is our Firm's Director of Tax Services. He has 50 years of diversified public accounting experience and provides financial and tax planning strategies to both individual and business clients.
Howard has taught individual taxation and serves as a consultant on the conversion and implementation of new accounting and inventory systems.
He is a graduate of Muhlenberg College and is a member of the American Institute of CPAs (AICPA) and the Maryland Association of CPA's (MACPA).
Myrna is Director of Estates and Trust and a Senior Tax Manager.
Myrna B. Mitnick, CPA, MBA, PFS, AEP®
Myrna is Director of Estates and Trust and a Senior Tax Manager.
She specializes in estate, gift, retirement and financial planning, and in the taxation of individuals, estates, and trusts. With over 25 years of experience in these areas, she is a tremendous resource to our Firm's clients.
She received her MBA in Finance from University of Maryland and her BA magna cum laude in Economics from Brandeis University, where she was elected to Phi Beta Kappa. Myrna received an Elijah Watts Sells Award for outstanding performance on the CPA Exam.
Myrna has earned the Personal Financial Specialist (PFS), Accredited Estate Planner (AEP®), and Investment Advisor Representative (IAR) designations.
Myrna was awarded the Max Teichmann Outstanding Volunteer Award for the year 2013-2014 by the Maryland Association of CPAs. The award recognized her expert testimony before the Maryland House of Delegate's Ways and Means Committee in support of estate tax reform.
She is the author of numerous articles on estate and retirement planning issues. She earned both the Personal Financial Specialist and the Investment Advisor Representative designations.
Myrna currently serves on the Planning Committee for the Advanced Tax Institute and was previously a co- chair of its Estate Planning Day. She is a member of the Baltimore Estate Planning Council, the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), and the Maryland Association of CPAs (MACPA).She is a past PTA president, speaks to high school students on choosing accounting as a career, serves a not-for- profit organization by providing financial counseling & budgeting education to families, and is active in a number of other local charitable organizations.
John is a Principal at the Firm, Director of Information Technology, and a Senior Tax Manager in the Tax Department.
John F. Eikenberg, Jr, CPA, CAN
John is a Principal at the Firm, Director of Information Technology, and a Senior Tax Manager in the Tax Department.
He graduated from Mount St. Mary's College with a BS in Accounting, and Business and Finance.
John has experience preparing financial statements and has previously worked on compilation, review, and audit engagements as part of the firm’s audit team. He is the firm expert for depreciation and fixed assets matters. John’s focus with the firm is preparing and reviewing complex multistate tax returns. He prepares and reviews the firm’s largest partnership and corporate tax returns. John has over 25 years of experience using CCH ProSystem fx Tax, the industry’s leading tax preparation software.
John has advanced IT Audit Training and has performing test of IT Controls as part of our Audit and Assurance Services. John is also a Certified QuickBooks Pro Advisor. He assists clients with their computer hardware and software needs. John is versatile in Accounting and Tax engagements and a senior member of the Audit Staff.
John is frequently asked to consult with the firm’s clients in many industries, including technology, financial services, transportation, manufacturing, distribution, food service, hotels, construction, real estate and rental activities. He has consulted on tax transaction issues and structuring for multiple merger and acquisition transactions as well as tax structuring of complex real estate transactions. As a Certified Business Exit Consultant (CBEC), John has advised many privately held businesses and their owners on the multiple ways an exit transaction could be structured, allowing them to strategically plan for the eventual transfer of their ownership in their largest asset.
John has prior government experience having worked for the U.S. Army Audit Agency. John is a member of the American Institute of CPAs (AICPA) and the Maryland Association of CPAs (MACPA) and has served on the MACPA’s Technology Committee. John is also a member of the International Exit Planning Association (IEPA).
John is one of the few accountants to be recognized by SmartCEO magazine as a SMART CPA. John is listed in the September 2012 issue as one of the Greater Baltimore Region's Top Accountants as selected by SmartCEO readers.
Stephanie is a Principal at the Firm and the Deputy Director of Tax in the Tax Department.
Stephanie A. Myers, CPA, MST
Stephanie is a Principal at the Firm and the Deputy Director of Tax in the Tax Department.
She graduated from Villa Julie College with a BS in computer accounting and obtained her Masters of Taxation at the University of Baltimore.
Stephanie is a member of the American Institute of CPAs (AICPA) and the Maryland Association of CPAs (MACPA). She has served on the MACPA's Under 35 Structure and Governance Task Force.
Katya is a Senior Manager in our Accounting and Auditing Department.
Katya Meekins, CPA
Katya is a Senior Manager in our Accounting and Auditing Department. She is a strategic addition to our highly experienced audit team.
Katya holds both a Master of Science in Finance and a Masters Plus in Accounting from Loyola University Maryland and a Business Management degree from Goucher College. She also obtained her CPA certificate from the Maryland Board of Public Accountancy.
Katya formerly worked with McCormick & Company, Inc. for 10 years, where she most recently served as Director of Corporate Financial Planning and Analysis.
Paula is a Senior Accountant in our Accounting Department.
Paula Steber
Paula is a Senior Accountant with the Firm. She received her BS in Accounting from the University of Baltimore.
Paula has extensive experience with small and medium-sized businesses and has specialized experience in restaurant and construction accounting.
Paula is a Certified Quickbooks Pro Advisor and is proficient in all versions of Quickbooks.
Lisa is a Staff Accountant in our Accounting Department.

Lisa is a Staff Accountant with the Firm. She received her BA from Loyola College. Lisa has extensive government contracting and manufacturing experience.
She provides a variety of accounting services to our clients, including preparation of financial statements for small business concerns.

He has extensive international business experience and speaks French and Spanish. Prior to joining our firm, Todd worked in corporate finance for a leading tech company.

Tammy graduated cum laude from the University of Baltimore School of Law in 2008. Prior to attending law school, she worked in the financial services industry at a Mid-Atlantic broker/dealer where she held Maryland Life and Health Insurance Licenses and was a Registered Representative.
Before joining Leonard J. Miller & Associates, Tammy was with two regional law firms where she gained extensive experience in estate and trust administration.
Tammy is a member of the Baltimore Estate Planning Council.

Lisa is our Office Manager.
Lisa is diversified in all aspects of the firm. She has been with the firm since 2007. She manages the phone, as well as assist the tax department and the accounting department. Lisa is in charge of gathering the client’s copy of the tax returns as well as the financial statements.
